Presentation
An Alpine Romanic-speaking community, the Ladins inhabit the Engadine and the Dolomites (the Monti Palladi, ‘pale mountains’), in the provinces of Bozen (Grödnertal, Gadertal in Tyrol), Trento, and Belluno.
The Ladin flag came into effect on May 5, 1920. Its colors — sky blue, white, and dark green — represent the sky, the snow, and the pastures (il cîl, lis nêfs, lis pradariis) of the five Valleys, celebrated in the national anthem.
The five Ladin valleys are evoked here by five star-shaped snow crystal motifs and by the traditional colors.
