FRIULANS (FURLANS)
Presentation

Linguistic and cultural community inhabiting the former Forum Iulii or “Forum of Julius (Caesar)” (Friûl — the provinces of Udine, Pordenone, and Gorizia). Friulian is a Rhaeto-Romanic language.

The flag of Friuli is a banner that reproduces the heraldic eagle of the Patriarchate of Friuli, attested at the beginning of the 15th century.
One of the historical emblems of Friuli is the Lombard Cross, known as that of Gisulf I, first Duke of Friuli in 568 (probably slightly later than the reign of this founder), whose residence was at Cividale (Forum Iulii).

This emblem here represents Friuli and the Friulian people.
