NORMANDS DES ÎLES (ÎLEMANS)
Présentation

The Norman islands of the English Channel depend on the British Crown. Their inhabitants are called Îlemans.
The regional emblems use the heraldic leopards of Normandy. The linear stylization of this figure corresponds to the sign commonly known as the “rune of life.” The use of this sign is justified by the Scandinavian origin of the founders of the duchy, who gave it its name. This sign may also be used to represent all Normans.
The cross is that of the Norman standards depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry, adopted on the modern flag of Guernsey.
