V.1. Peoples of Aquitanian Ancestry

The term Aquitanian refers to the protohistoric root from which the Basques are the last linguistic representatives. The area shared by the Basques and the Gascons—whose Romance language developed on an Aquitanian substratum—constitutes Vasconia (also known as Vasconie or Baskonia).
